Very intense “Walk of Shame” vid, of the UC Davis Chancellor walking out to her car (maybe last evening or tonite), surrounded by hundreds of students lining the path in total silence. All you hear are the sounds of her footsteps. A very effective tactic, the camera was focused on her looking totally uncomfortable, embarrassed, ashamed.
There has been frustratingly little info about this reported down here, so I’m not across the full story.
That said, I can appreciate how eerie this is. I read about it online and the report mentioned that the Chancellor didn’t acknowledge the students sitting around her. But I think I heard the blonde woman walking with her telling off the journo’s about talking, because they wanted to remain silent out of respect. So it seems to me that she did acknowledge them, and was trying to do the ‘right thing’, and not inflame the situation.
So I have mixed feelings, I guess, about how this is being reported (this paricular incident, not the pepper spray which is terrifying and ridiculous and deeply unsettling). But thank you, Jane, for posting this because as I say, it’s been hard to find any decent reporting on this one. I’d be keen to hear your opinion on this woman, and her coverage.
